Red Nose Day at Sacred Heart Petone

What a great day we had on Friday. It was Red Nose day and everyone wore as much red as they could find to raise money for Kidscure. Our Discovery Time theme was red and there were lots of fun activities ranging from dress ups, crafts, red PE gear, painting and a firm favourite making strawberry jam sandwiches.

Welcome Mila

On Monday we welcomed Mila to Sacred Heart Petone. Nicolette from Petone Kindergarten came along and shared her portfolio with us. Her big brother Jack introduced her and Mum Lucy spoke too. Dad, Scott and little brother Noah were there as well as Gran. Mila is very lucky to have a great buddy called PJ.

Duffy Role Model Assembly

After our Liturgy we had two past pupils from Sacred Heart come back to talk to us about the importance of books and reading. There were some of the best speakers we have ever heard. Very very funny. What made it even more special Emilio is Eden's big brother! Chris was the other speaker and he is now the Head Boy of St Bernards.

Assumption Liturgy

This week we have been talking about Mary and The Assumption in classes and we had a beautiful liturgy on Friday. Mrs Bell created a very special liturgy, Father John celebrated it with us and several seniors were readers.

The Amazing Skylab

To help us explore ideas around our school topic for the term Ao Tukupu- Space, we had a visit from Gloria and the amazing Skylab.
We had to crawl through the tunnel into the lab. When Gloria turned the lights off it was pitch black but we could see the stars! It was fantastic and we learned lots of facts about what is above us in the night sky.

Maths is hands on and heaps of fun in Tui Class

At Maths time in Tui class we use a wide range of materials to explore concepts.
Here Maree gives a helping hand in practicing number formation.
George and Edward are working on their patterning skills.
We have a wonderful new resource called 'Numicon'. Soni. Benjamin, Tala and Zion are usng it to explore teen numbers.

Welcome Ivy and Sia

We have welcomed 2 new Tuis to our class this term so far. Both girls come from Petone Beach kindergarten. We are thrilled to have them and their families at Sacred Heart.
Janine from Petone Beach kindy told us what Sia liked to do at kindy.

Mum, Dad and brother Toutai came along to be welcomed and support Sia too, as she took off the korowai from Kindy and put on the one for Tui at Sacred Heart to symbolize her moving on to primary school.
Last week big sister Meg introduced Ivy to the school. Ivy's Pukeko buddy Tylah supported her too.
Mum, Katherine told us a bit about Ivy too.
