Another busy week in Tui Class

This week we were back to normal routines. The weather gave us a bit of a shock too. It was still a week of lots of great learning and we had some visitors from Petone Beach Kindergarten and Imagine Pre-School.
On Thursday the Greenie group served the whole school a yummy rhubarb crumble. Kahlea lept in to give Mrs Pennington and the group,  a hand serving the 100 plus people.

At Maths time we often work in groups to explore number concepts. Here we are learning about groups to 10.
Sr Annette comes every Tuesday to teach us Tai Chi, she often thinks we are the best class in the school.

Father Albano is another regular visitor to Tui class. We are going to miss this wonderful man when he moves to Rome in April.
Here we are enjoying our lovely free Duffy books. What lucky tamariki we are.

Petone Scavenger Hunt

On Thursday we had another glorious day for our Petone Scavenger Hunt. We walked all around Petone taking photos and being great detectives. We learnt a bit about our Petone History from Jolie at the Settlers Museum and finished off with a sausage sizzle, ice blocks and a fun time on the beach.

EOTC WEEK

What a fantastic week we had, the weather was great and it was a week full of challenges and learning taking place in our lovely community of Petone.

Huge thanks to all the parents and wider family members who came and helped out, trips just cant happen without the extra support.
We were all thankful for the lunch break.

Soni and Amelie have a closer look at a bug we found.

Eva is wondering what's eating this plant??
Brayden and Mrs Havell take a closer look in the weta cave.

Some of us including Mrs Tristram still had energy to burn in a fast and fun game of Stuck in the Mud.

On Wednesday at school we had outdoor activities at school. We had to work as a team and one station we had to put up tents.
Zach and his group were successful.

So was Samantha's.

Sini was a great help to her team.

Tala's tent was a read challenge.

We finished Wednesday afternoon with a whole school water fight but Mrs Pennington was too busy getting everyone wet with the hose to take photos.

Swimming Sports

What a fantastic fun day we had on Friday. It was our annual school swimming sports. It's pretty loud and we get very excited hopping on the bus as we head off to Naenae Pool.
We are all in colour teams and each team had their own special team chant, lead by the school leaders.

We are so proud of Kahlea, Shardae's Mum she was the only Tui parent in the parent v teachers race. Go Pirate Parent!!

Wibble wobble jelly

In Tui we had great fun making jelly with Maree, the best part of course was the next day when we got to eat it. What fantastic cooks we are! YUM YUM!!

Swimming Fun at Mackenzie Baths

Tui have just completed their swimming lessons at Mackenzie Bath. After 2 weeks in the pool we have all made fantastic progress and many of us are swimming like fish.

Skills for winter

Our friendly Public Health Nurse Helen popped into Tui Class to teach us how to blow our noses properly. She also taught us to sing twinkle twinkle little star as we wash our hands. We are hoping no one spreads germs this winter.

Welcome Zion and your whanau to Sacred Heart Petone

This morning we welcomed Zion and his whanau to our school. It was so lovely to see all his cousins get up to support him.
